These all situations in my life without the doubt were contributing factors to my P.T. S.D.
=
I did get to Canada eventually and in time co wrote some songs with various recording artists here in Canada and Czech Republic.
On day one of those recording artists did send me this news paper clipping

Much More - Summer of Tanks = page 10.

When we did arrived to Kladno we were considered to be heroes. Many people were looking at me when they learned about my adventures from day one behind the Radio Station barricade.
=
That night me and Rudolph did begun to organize the resistance actions.
=
But as the days went bye less and less actions were happening. Affairs in our city and country were in normalization process.
So I did decided for returning back to Prague.
=
But even there was nothing much going on. Public transportation was again restored so I want to Prague again on train.
=
I did end up on the Staromak. ( old city square ) where I was sitting with one young Prague guy who was also disillusioned with what was happening to our country.
=
As we were sitting and talking one guy came to join us and start telling us that Czech border guards were letting resistance members to scape to Austria without the passport.
Young guy did look at me I did look at him and without any hesitation we were on our way to the highway.
We did hitch the ride. To our luck man who did pich us up was on his way to Vienna so we had a single ride to our freedom.
=
However when we did arrive in Moravia to one border crossing instead of letting us through we were arrested and detained for several hours.
Then we were escorted to near bye train station placed on the train to Prague and shipped beck what we did came from.
=
Well since we were unescorted we did get off first train station. Went on the highway and start hitching to Bratislava in Slovakia.
After first ride we had to walk through same town from where we were placed on to the train.
Then we did get another ride.
=
And Bratislava here we come.
=
When we did arrive in to Bratislava in no time we did get hooked up with one guy of my age from Brno. ( in Moravia ) He too was trying to get in to Austria and made one previous attempt over the Morava river night before but did get cut.
He said that it was the best place to get over the border because between the road from Bratislava to Bratislava Nova Ves was only one fence.
Right behind the fence was a river and behind a river was Austria.
There had been observation towers on the Slovak side of the border but not all of them were mend every night.
He took us there and we did selected to us place where we will attempt to get over the fence.
=
For that night he did take us in to the shack in one vineyard where every night stayed larger group of yang people.
=
Next day we went out and I did buy at the hardware store wire cutters to get through the fence.
Since I was the only one who had any money then I had to buy the cheapest what did also mean smallest.
We did spend our day in town then in the evening you would be able to see us walking from Devin Castle toward Bratislavska Nova Ves.
On our right side of the road were large vineyards where in one place we did leave the road and hid in them.
We were mostly laying down till about four am when we decided to make our move.
We did make quick run from vineyard in to the ditch beside fence. Where we did lay down and I did begun to be cutting the fence.
For the size of our cutters process was wery slow. Young guy who was on the look out said that he can see a car lights on the road from Bratislava.
We were anticipating some civilian vehicle. Still I did hand over the cutters to the guy from Brno.
No matter what hole through fence was still way too small.
=
Next thing military jeep arrived next to us. Armed Slovak border guards did jump off and we were arrested on the spot.
=
After we were driven to the border guards base we were questioned and then told that since our pal from Brno did made a attempt to run over same border few nights ago that we won't be released so we were placed in to their jail and were waiting for our fate.
It had been some times at around five am next morning when several border guards did enter our cell tied our hands behind our back. Placed blind fold over our eyes and begun to be escorting us to unknown destination.
Once out of the building I was grabbed by several soldiers and was loaded on to the military truck.
I or my friends were not alowed to talk or ask any questions.
After that our truck did begun to be driving off.
After certain time I did loose the direction of our departure at first we were on the highway but eventually our truck did start driving on some dirt road.
Naively I did hope that they will drive us to some gate in fence and release us in to Austria.
But instead truck did stop we were unloaded from the truck and were walked from the dirt road on to some field what I believed was harvested corn field.
First soldiers did loaded their machine guns and were pretending that they will shoot us.
I knew that it was just a bluff.
But when I could hear several belt buckles star sliding on the military belts I knew well what was coming to us.
=
I did scream to my friends - go down the ground we will get a beating. I was in the army and I knew what that sound was all about.
=
Well when they were finished with us they did freed our hands and left us in that field driving back to their base. We were all covered in dirt and blood specially our faces but we were free.
=
D A N U B E  T R A G E D Y .
======================
When we did return to our shack in wineyard we did give up for any additional attempts to get over any wire fences.
Our only option was to try to swim in Danube river on to the barge what was towed nightly through Slovakia from Hungary to Austria. Barges were loaded with coal where we would be able to hide.
Our trio did decided to take the risk despite of all dangers.
=
And so next morning we went again in to same hardware store but this time I did buy the laundry cord. After that we went walk on the dyke toward the Austrian border selecting our selves best place for our entering in to the river.
Close to Bratislava I was able to se number of whirl poles bye the bank of the river. I was always afraid of them despite to that I was never sucked to one of them.
After that we went for lunch and spend our time downtown till night doing nothing.
=
When the dark came we did begun to be walking to our selected place where we did our last strategy.
=
Our plan was to leave one piece of our clothing hidden on shore in the case that we will not make it that we will detach our selves from each other from the laundry cord. Then swim beck to shore on our own and then retrieve our clothing next morning to show to others that we did made it alive in out of the river.
Then we tie our selves two on the ends and one in the middle and begun to be waiting for the barges.
=
We were all dressed had our shoes on and had all our documents sealed in plastic bags on our bodies.
At first we did hear the tag boat blowing a it's horn before entering the Bratislava. After that we were listening for the sound of the motors and judging how far they were from us down the stream.
Eventually we did decidet that it would be a time for us to enter in to the river and so we did.
Swimming in to the center of the river.
=
When you are submerged to your head in water it is very difficult to judge the distances.
We did not wanted to get in direct pass of the tag boat so we would not get sucked down by the propeller and get killed..
So for time being we were just floating.
Finely tag boat was in front of us. We must heve been close enough for the crew to see us because they did begun to be shinning spot lights on to us.
We were for time trying to swim in under water then serviced and gone on.
=
What we were not anticipating was that tag boat did begun to be creating waves what were carrying us way from the approaching two barhes what the tag boat had in tow.
When the first barge became in front of us we were pretty far away. Barge for it.s load did begun to be creating new set of much larger waves.
Despite of all our efforts second barge sailed bye and we were stuck in the river.
Time to get separated and get back to shore.
=
At the beginning we were able to see each other but soon we did drifted apart so we were letting know each other by caling each other - I am here I am here.
=
I was concentrating on to the black outline of the shore. All otherwise I was able to see was black water with reflection of million stars and bubbles.
Propeller from the tag boat was creating billion of bubbles what were floating down the stream all around me.
=
And then in first did begun to be screaming for help Brnak. By my estimation he was way behind me and way down the stream.
Then it was young guy from Prague who did also start screaming for help.
He did sound to be closer to me but also way behind in the river.
=
I was afraid to swim in to his direction because I too was beginning to be loosing my powers and cold water did begun to be effecting me.
Then suddenly in front of me did appear wooden platform I did grab on to it and pooled my self out of the river.
=
That night I was the only one who did return back in to the shack in vineyard. Next morning I was very worry when I did dicover that pieces of clothing left behind by my friends were not removed.
But to my luch on my way to Bratislava I did run in to the young guy from Prague. He was poled out from the river by  the young guys from Ziskova Skola. ( military school )
=
Sadly our friend from Brno never made it.

Much More - Summer of Tanks = page 9.

Second or third day I did meet on Vaclavak my old friend from my home town ( Kladno ) I can't recall where or if I did had any sleep that first night or if I had again anything to eat or drink. Since those generous old ladies from the building near Hradcany.
=
My body Rudolph did tell me that he came to Prague to get some Resistance news print material. He said that he had through Resistance arranged place where to get it and his mission was to smuggle all the newspapers and so on back to Kladno.
Rudolph did ask me to give him a hand since in two we would be able to carry more material then he all alone.
=
It was for my hometown so I had no other alternative.
=

Rudolph in 60s.
========================================================================
It did show that our resistance was getting to be better organized. At first under the instructions we did go to Bila Labut ( white swan ) Department Store - it cas closed. But by fron entrance we had waiting for us several heavy duty large shopping begs.
We each did take two largest begs and with them we did go to another address in downtown where i front entrance by the door in the corner we found waiting for us several stacks of resitance newspapers and fliers.
=
Loading our begs to the top and covering the contents with some of our clothing on the top we were ready to go.
=
And since there was not any public transportation we had to start walking cross whole Prague.
When we did came to the Vltava river we did discover that bridge across was obstucted by tanks and only sidewalks were open for the pedestrians.
Sidewalks were on both sides guarded by the Russian soldiers.
Rudolph and me had short conference. Rudolph decided to go first and he told me that if he will get arrested for me to ignore him and leave him to his faith and search for me some other way to get cross the river.
=
And there he went. It did seemed easy he went cross with now problem.
=
When he was on other side it became to be my turn to go. Not knowing to me I did cover content of my one bag with my ( sustak ).
Italian made spring coat what one of my aunts did buy for me.
Coat material was still not seen even in Prague on too many people. I was probably on in five in whole Prague.
To my surprise as I did approach the guards one of them did jumped up and went straight to my bag and did begun with his fingers start testing my coats material.
I was afraid that he will remove it in out of my bag and discover whole load of resitance print hidden in under neath.
=
To my luck he did not. Rudolph told me when I did reach him that he did see me arrested without the doubt.
=
Well after that rest of our way we did not encounter any incidents. Our bags were very heavy and for that we had to make number of stops to rest. But eventually we did made our way all the way to Ruzin. As we did get closer to Kladno highway we did run in to the traffic jam on the street.
There were standing some people on the sidewalk. We did learn from them that Russians were not letting anybody to leave Prague.
Kladno is from Prague 32 km. So our prospect of future burden to carry our heavy bags for another 32 km on our feet did sound very scary.
=
We did told to the people what we were up to and did ask what would be for us best way to get in out of Prague ?
In among the people was one man who said that he was transporting to Kladno Cable Factory load of wires. And said that he was stucked in Prague over 2 days. In Kladno he had prepaid hotel and food.
So for that reson he was determined to get of Prague and offered us to get as out.
=
Parade.
=
People from the sidewalk did give each of us Czechoslovakian flags. Me and Rudolph did place our bags in between the wires climb on to the trucks and were on our way.
=
Short distance behind te turn off to the Ruzin International airport Kladno highway was blocked by several tanks and armored transporters.
In front of those were soldiers redirecting all the traffic back in to Prague.
This meant that every vehicle had to turn from right lane in to the left lane and start returning.
No one was allowed to leave the city.
=
And so even our truck did begun turning but instead of turning all the way our truck did go straight on to sidewalk and turned again to the right. Then drove around the tanks on the Kladno highway.
=
Our truck had heavy weight for all the load of wires. My biggest concern was for prospect of blowing our tires.
But we did survive even turn on to the highway behind the tanks.
=
AND SO SUDDENLY THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF US. JUST EMPTY ROAD.
FROM BEHIND THE TANKS ON TO OUR SIDE CAME RUNNING SOME HIGHER RANKING RUSSIAN OFFICER SCREAMING SOMETHING AT US AND WAVING HIS ARMS.
WE COULD NOT HEAR THE THING
NEXT THING WE DID SEE FROM TOP OF OUR TRUCK HOW THE CANNON BARREL FROM ONE OF THE TANKS BEGUN TO BE TURNING AND AIMING AT US.
=
WE DID FLY OUR FLAGS I DID LOOK AT RUDOLPH - RUDOLPH DID LOOK AT ME.
=
IT WAS GOOD TO KNOW YOU MY FRIEND - TOO BAD THAT OUR LIVES WILL BE SO SHORT.
WAITING FOR TO BE BLASTED OUT OF THIS EARTH THERE WAS ONLY EMPTY HIGHWAY IN FRONT AND SMALLER AND SMALLER TANKS IN BEHIND.
======================================================================
For all those years that Soviets were involved in Afghanistan I kept saying that if that Russian officer did end up in that conflict. Then no harm would come to him because he did display such humanity toward me.

Much More - Summer of Tanks = page 8.

When I did get back to the W Square I did notice that down below in front of the stares to the National Museum was sitting down on the ground several thousand Prague's citizens.
What they were doing there I had no idea.
My biggest concern was to locate my friend who's mission was to locate a contact for the underground  radio station.
I became to be very disappointed when I did not found him to be waiting for me at our meeting place.
He did wnow well that I had long distance to walk for no public transportation what so ever.
And so I did begun to wait.
=
I am not sure for how long I have been waiting before I did get idea to go look for him in the case he did join all that crowd in front of stairs to the museum.
=
When I did reach there I did found my self in big trouble. First I had to be looking in front of me so I would not step on anybody and then all around to see if I will see face of my friend. It was not easy.
Eventually I did wine through the crowd almost all the way to the museum steps. When I did spot to my right side one friend I knew from Staromak. ( Old City Square )
I knew that this friend did know the friend I was looking for so I made my way through people all the way to him and ask if he did see our body.
=
Friend was sitting in circle of twenty or thirty people. In front of them were laying down number of by human blood covered Czechoslovakian flags.
I did told my friend everything about my experiences from the Business Consulate. And he told me about that he and his friends in the circle were covering dead Prague Resistance members with Czechoslovakian flags and now were getting ready to go to Hradcany ( Royal Palace ) Where was located the Presidential office. To show our president what kind of help Russians did bring us.
=
My friend did begun to be convincing me to join him in this task. For some time I was resisting that idea because all that effort I did invested in to my trip to Business Consulate would have been for nothing.
But eventually realizing that I was all alone confused by all events of the day I did give in.
=======================================================================
As soon as I did agree my friend did told to everybody to get up.
Next thing with him I was standing in front of some filmmakers who were placed on the steps to the museum.
I did not know about them because I did never look up there on my arrival.
=
I have seen my sel. on TV here in Vancouver when CTV were showing 2 part television documentary - Prague Spring 68 Summer of Tanks.
I do have that movie now but my pictures are not in it ??????????????????????????
=======================================================================
mr Robert Hurst did never keep his promise. All I did want to have my picture from that documentary so I could frame one picture from my self and give a copies to my children. I still not have any.
====================================================================
And so we did begun marching from Prague center uphill to Hradcany.
When we did reach the gate to the Presidential Palace we were unwelcome by amounts of the Russian tanks what were restricting access to the palace.
=
At the beginning there was just a stand off but eventually there begun again shooting.
Time to be diving in front of bullets again.
=
After certain time I did found my self in court yard of one Pragues building. It was about twenty of us all burned from all events of the day.
We were all leaning with our back in against the wall.
=
Suddenly in out of the building did appear two old grandmothers = one did hold jar of water and other one platter loaded with sandwiches.
=
When they did reach me I did grab the glass and drink it to the last drop. I could not remember when the last time I had anything to drink.
=
But when it did come to the food I did start saying. I did not was my hands I need to wash my hands!
This was because from carrying with human blood covered flag I still had on palm of my hand sticky feeling.
But I was so burned out that I was not able to move even if someone would give me a chance.
=
As from another dimension I did keep hearing a voice talking to me.
=
Eat it will give you an energy. You need an energy. Eat!
=======================================================================
I DID GRAB MY SANDWICH IN TO TIPS OF MY FONGERS AFTER I DID SEE THAT THEY WERE BLOOD FREE.
AFTER THAT I DID BEGUN TO EAT AND SAYING. - i AM AN CANNIBAL WORST CREATURE ON THIS EARTH.
EVERY BITE DID TASTE TO ME AS i WAS EATING HUMAN BEING.
=
i WAS TRULY BURMED OUT.

Much More - Summer of Tanks = page 7.

Behind the corner at the next block I did sit down on the sidewalk and lean in against the building. All I did was repeating learned license plates in my head and was wasting my time.
When I did assume that it would take me to Protetika checking the boilers I did decide to my return. At first I did untie one shoe lace on one of my shoes. And after that I did begun to be walking.
=
When I did reach the ramp to the under ground garage I did step down on my loose shoe lace and faked almost loosing my balance.
=
Four men were still around that same vehicle. No doubt that they were KGB.
=
In the garage was very dark for me to read the license plate and I was not able to go down to read it or see better what those men were up to.
And so slowly doing my shoe lace I did keep sterring in to the garage when I could hear behind my back approaching military boots.
=
I DID STAND UP AND DISCOVERED BARREL OF MACHINE GUN CARVED BETWEEN MY SHOULDER BLADES.
=
My first thoughts were = will I be able to disarm man behind me ? I did know how to do it so I did begun to guess How tall he may be and so on.
But in my secondary thought was. How I am going to get in out off here.
Behind my back I had whole bunch of soldiers with machine guns. On my right side possible KGB. On my left side about 8 tracks of rail extending brom the Bubenech Train Station.
I was in big trouble.
=
And so as if from above I did begun to react.
I did slowly turn around look straight in to the soldiers eyes and begun to be talking some nonsense in Russian. After that I did begun to be walking as nothing had happen away.
=
You can imagine a stress of my situation.
Every step I made it did felt if someone would be loading 100 kg of load on top of my shoulders.
I was waiting from behind command to stop and raise my hands.
=
My stress did leave me bye the time when I did reach the guards in passage in between two tanks who did let me in.
Guards did give me whole bunch of Russian propaganda what I did begun To be destroying in front of as as soon as those guards were behind my back.
=
Reaching the corner of the street I did take all those papers - whistle toward the guards. Throw pares in to the air and begun to be running .
=
In minute I was without me expectations in front of Chinese consulate what was guarded by bus loads of Russian soldiers.

Much More = Summer of Tanks. = page 6.

I
I became to be very stunned by all that I have seen. But to my luck I did run in to my first friend that day on the square. He was standing beside the radio what was placed on the open window ledge of one building.
He said that Radio Prague did relocate in to the under ground and did begun to be broadcasting again.
In main time we did shared all our experiences of that day.
=
Radio station did begun to be broadcasting about that Soviet forces were using their diplomatic vehicles in arresting our people because our resistance was targeting their military vehicles.
=
On my way to work every day I had to be walking every day in around Sovietske Obchodni Zastupitelstvi ( Business Consulate ) where I did see large number of their diplomatic vehicles to be parked beside the sidewalk.
=
And so I did sugested to my friend that if he would be willing to look for the connection with the undergound radio. Then I would go to the BC to see if I could get some license plates of their diplomatic vehicles.
=
He said yes and I was on my way.
=
I could not do much running in down town for not to be arrested or shot by Russians. But by fast walking further I did get more safe I did feel. After Letenska Plan I did close up in ulice Pod Kastany on to Soviet Consulate. For high wall and large garden I was not able to see anything in there at all.
So I did keep walking till I did reach proximity of Bubenecske Nadrazi ( train station ).
And I did came face to face with two Russian Tanks what were blocking the street. (I could see that in between them was small opening just for pedestrians what was guarded by several armed Russian soldiers.
=
For the moment I did regret that when they did transfer me to special school that they did removed Russian language as my subject.
But still I did get my guts and with my obcansky prukaz ( id ) I did approached the guards and with my poor Russian I did begun to be convincing them that I was a boiler operator at Protetika Praha and I was in need to go check out pressure of my boilers.
=
Today I think that those soldiers were not too skilled in Latin as I was not in Azbuka and so did buy my story and I was on my way.
=
As soon I did get beyond the guards I became to be happy to see first vehicle parked in their usual place.
Well I knew that I was not able to take a note book in to my hand and start writing all the diplomatic license plates. Memorizing them was only my solution.
And to my luck they all were very simle and easy to remember. I can still remember them to this day.

=
I did walk slowly on sidewalk all the way to the ramp leading in to the underground garage. Ramp was on my left side but vehicles on my left.
I did take quick look to my left and I was able to see four men dressed in leather jackets walking around one larger vehicle. What they were doing was not clear to me.
I did decided that on my way back I will create some diversion so I'll be able to take better look.
And so.
XX 00 07  XX 00 09 - - - -
=
When I did reach the end of the building on the grass field larger then soccer field I became to be welcome by dozen of giant military tents.
Around them was laying around or doing something at least hundred soldiers. By every tent I could see machine guns with loaded clips in to them.
Since I did feel safe for the wire fence between me and those soldiers I did keep looking there and kept walking till I did reach the end of the compound.
